Move to Know – Contemporary & Somatic Movement for Adults
Move to Know is a welcoming group movement class led by Celeste. Designed for adults who feel curious about movement, body awareness, and new ways of connecting with themselves through motion, this class invites exploration in an accessible and supportive environment. No dance experience is required, just a willingness to move, explore, and listen to your body.
Drawing from both contemporary dance and somatic movement practices, Move to Know encourages participants to develop awareness, confidence, and freedom in movement. Rather than focusing on performance, we focus on curiosity, sensation, and discovery. Together, we explore how the body moves, senses, adapts, and responds. Through guided exercises and creative prompts, participants gradually expand their movement.
Each session begins standing with gentle warm-ups that improve mobility and awareness. From there, we experiment with momentum, balance, coordination, and weight shift. As your confidence grows, we’ll move closer to the floor, opening new movement while maintaining individual pacing.
As the course unfolds, participants connect movement into short sequences inspired by contemporary dance principles. These movement phrases help transform the experience into something memorable and enjoyable. Rather than striving for perfect execution, participants focus on personal experience and expression.
Ultimately, Move to Know is not about learning choreography for performance or achieving a specific outcome. Instead, it offers time and space to reconnect with the body, expand movement possibilities, and enjoy moving alongside others in a relaxed, encouraging, and non-judgemental environment.
Suitable for adults with a general level of mobility. Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely, and come ready to explore, move, and discover what your body already knows.
