Join us for an engaging 3-hour Soap Making Workshop where you'll learn the art and science of creating your own soap from scratch! Using everyday oils you can find at the supermarket, we’ll dive into the fascinating world of soap making.
✨ 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁:
Theoretical Insights: Discover how soap works and master the cold process method.
Hands-On Experience: Create a small loaf of soap (500 ml) that yields approximately 4 full-sized or 8 guest-sized bars.
Customisation: Learn to colour, fragrance, and add unique ingredients like clays and exfoliants.
Troubleshooting Tips: Overcome common challenges in soap making.
🔧 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴:
An empty 2L ice cream container or a similar bowl for mixing.
A tea towel.
If you have any spare ice cream containers, we’d love to keep them!

Each participant will take home a silicon soap mould!

This year we had over 80 incredible entries, to which our amazing judge Benjamin Work had the difficult task to choose 20 artists and 5 highly commended as our finalists. Nonetheless, we have a selection of critically engaging and crafted artworks responding to ideas about our Tamaki Estuary, curated in our Malcolm Smith Gallery. Don’t forget to come along and see the artworks in person at our Opening and Awards ceremony on Saturday the 1st July!
