Location
35 Uxbridge Road, Howick

The Gallery is located beside Howick Library. Main entry is via Uxbridge Road.
Car parking
UXBRIDGE shares a small car park with the Early Learning Centre located to the rear of the main building. There are two accessible parking spots available in this car park (Approx. 4 metres’ walk from our rear entrance).
You can access this car park via the driveway to the left of the Howick Library.
Buses
Howick is connected to Auckland’s CBD via bus and ferry with bus stops located on either end of Picton Street. There are also bus connections from Manukau & South Auckland and local services within East Auckland.

Taxis
Taxis can pick up and drop off from the front entrance on Uxbridge Road (approx. 5 metres walk to our main entrance).
Entry
Entry doors
We have two accessible doors; one located at the front of the centre with the other at the rear of the centre. These are sliding, automatic-opening doors activated by a sensor above each door. Once you have entered the building, you’ll find the concourse directly ahead of either entrance.
The Gallery doors remain open between 10 am – 4 pm, unless the Gallery is closed for installation.
In-Gallery assistance
Our reception staff are available to answer any questions or provide directions if desired.
We welcome feedback about our exhibitions.
Entry for service dogs
Service dogs are welcome in all UXBRIDGE spaces, including the Malcolm Smith Gallery.
Wheelchairs and more
All areas of the Gallery are accessible by wheelchair or by pram.
You’re welcome to leave any backpacks and other belongings at the reception while visiting the Gallery.

Large-print booklets are available for some exhibitions. Please ask at the front desk for details.
Tours
We offer accessible exhibition tours intermittently. Please visit our current exhibitions page to see upcoming accessible tours.
We regularly offer curator and artist tours of our exhibitions. For more information please visit our current exhibitions page for updates and full information.
We are also happy to offer guided tours with our Visual Arts Coordinator upon request. Please email [email protected] for availability and more information.
Toilets
There is an accessible/gender inclusive bathroom in the concourse, this is a self-contained compartment with full privacy.

Sensory Information

Our busiest times are during the school holidays and weekends between 10am and 12pm. We recommend visiting outside these hours, or on Mondays from 10 am – 12 pm for a quieter experience.
