Sew a Tote Bag in this children’s beginner sewing workshop. Kids get started exploring the first steps to sewing and they’ll finish the session with a usable machined tote or book bag. We sew using our very safe hand crank machines, learning French seams so the bag ends up nice and tidy inside and out. This is just the beginning! If your child likes this session, then they can move on to making a cushion cover with book pocket or a drawstring back pack with extra’s.
In the Sew a Tote Bag workshop we will provide everything needed along with funky fabrics to choose from. An easy project for an absolute beginner to sewing.
Gracie Mathews is the best tutor to teach your child, she oozes enthusiasm for everything textile. In addition to teaching and travelling New Zealand for a fabric supplier she has her own business offering a variety of costume and sewing services including hire, manufacture, costume and sewing experience packages and continues to share her personal costume and textile collection through symposiums, events and exhibitions.
What students say about Gracie’s Holiday Workshops:
Marina L. (January 2023)
My kids attended the Uxbridge Sew a Tote Bag Holiday Programme class – and they loved it! They came home very proud of their beautiful creations. Also, they instantly put their new sewing skills to good use by making back packs and tote bags for their soft toys. Hours of fun! Thanks so much, Gracie Matthews! I’m hoping to send the kids to more of your classes in future.
