Hooked on Crochet holiday workshop in Auckland

Welcome to the Hooked on Crochet workshop. This is a fun and creative workshop designed for kids aged 10+ who want to learn the timeless art of crocheting granny squares. During the workshop your child will discover the joy of working with yarn. They will master new skills while creating a beautiful and unique crochet project for a phone or 3B1 book.

You child will be introduced to the basic crochet stitches, techniques, and tools needed to create granny squares. With the guidance of Portia from Creation’s by Portia they will learn how to hold a crochet hook, make a slip knot, and create chain stitches. They will also learn how to work single, double, and half-double crochet stitches. Lastly, they will learn how to join granny squares together to make the cover.

We will have a variety of colourful yarns for them to choose from and learn the basics. They will learn how to change colours, weave ends and create different designs using the basic crochet techniques.
Obviously the first project must be kept nice and simple, so children build their confidence and creativity.

At the end of the workshop, each child should have made a few granny squares and stitched them together into the project. They will take away enough basic skills and a simple handout to follow so they can continue exploring the world of crochet on their own. Depending on how quickly your child works, the project may or may not be finished but they will have the skills to finish it at home.

Hooked on Crochet is a perfect workshop for kids who love to create, explore, and learn. Give your child the gift of creativity and sign up for this fun and engaging workshop today!
