This Jewellery: Silver Earrings workshop is a perfect introduction in designing and making your very own custom pair of earrings. The ultimate is that in 3 hours the earrings you make will be ready to wear!
Our experienced tutor Maca Bernal will show you how to do that step by step, so fear not if you are an absolute beginner, you will be well guided! Think youre not creative, never made anything in your life before, well here is your opportunity to make a pair of earrings you will be proud of.
Your earrings can have interesting texture, dazzling shine or matt finish. The choices are all yours.
TECHNIQUES YOU WILL LEARN:
Doming – More or less exactly what it sounds like, adding concave dome shapes to flat sheet metal. It involves the use of a dome punch or block. Doming doesnt require too much preparation of the material so it is ideal for this workshop. It is fast and efficient to use.
Hammering – This is a popular technique in contemporary jewellery as it gives pieces a mottled, textured look while still allowing the metal to keep its shine. Like doming, hammering is quick and easy to do if you use the right tools.
Openwork – Openwork describes jewellery that features open or see-through spaces in the design. Professional jewellers use this technique a lot but with more intricacy and detail. In this Make Silver Earrings workshop we will use a simple cut or punch method of openwork to create open spaces.
