Looking for a fun and creative school holiday activity? Then join our Sew It, Sling It, Style It! workshop, where kids will learn essential sewing skills while designing and creating their very own crossbody bag.
From the moment they choose their fabrics, children will dive into a hands-on sewing adventure. First, they’ll learn how to thread a needle and safely use a hand-crank sewing machine. Then, with step-by-step guidance from Gracie, our friendly tutor, they’ll cut, sew, and assemble their bag while adding their own unique style along the way.
As the workshop progresses, kids will experiment with colour combinations, explore fabrics, and discover how simple sewing techniques can transform fabric into something both practical and fashionable. Not only will they create a bag they can use every day, but they’ll also develop valuable skills they can build on in future sewing projects.
Best of all, no previous sewing experience is needed. We provide all materials, tools, and guidance, so children can focus on creating, learning, and having fun in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Sewing helps children build patience, confidence, creativity, and fine motor skills. As a result, they leave with more than just a finished project, they gain a sense of achievement and pride in something they’ve made with their own hands.

Gracie Mathews is the best tutor to teach your child, she oozes enthusiasm for everything textile. In addition to teaching and travelling New Zealand for a fabric supplier she has her own business offering a variety of costume and sewing services. The variety includes costume hire, manufacture, costume and sewing experience packages. She continues to share her personal costume and textile collection through symposiums, events and exhibitions.

Children must be aged 8+ years old. Please do not register children under the age of 8 in this class.
What to bring:
All materials are included in the fee. Children can bring a water bottle and snacks.
