Join us for an exciting workshop that introduces you to Painting Plein Air, the fastest-growing art movement worldwide. “Plein air” is French for “open air,” meaning painting outdoors amidst the natural beauty of your surroundings. If you’ve never painted on location before, it can seem daunting, but with the right guidance, it is a lot of fun. Our tutor, Elise De Silva, a local artist and passionate plein air enthusiast, will be there to help you take that first step with confidence.
Elise loves painting outdoors and wants to share her knowledge and passion for painting outdoors. You’ll learn how to compose, use tone, and especially how to simplify complex scenes to avoid getting bogged down with detail. The workshop is held at beautiful Howick Beach, providing you with a stunning and inspiring setting for your creations.
Elise will begin with an informative talk and live demonstration where she will showcase the approach to painting on location. Afterward, participants will have loads of time to create their own artwork under a watchful eye and friendly guidance from Elise.
This workshop is for artists of all levels, from beginners to those with more experience. While Elise specializes in watercolours, the techniques covered in the session are suitable for any medium – whether you prefer working with oils, acrylics, or other materials.
Don’t miss this chance to refine your artistic skills while enjoying the great outdoors. With Elise’s supportive instruction, you’ll gain the confidence to tackle plein air painting and expand your artistic horizons wherever you go. If weather is not suitable the saving date will be Saturday 15 March.
