During this workshop, you’ll delve into the appealing possibilities charcoal drawing can give. The charcoal medium offers a distinctive range of drawing processes that are sure to captivate your imagination. You’ll be guided through a series of hands-on exercises designed to help you understand the full potential charcoal as a medium has.
This drawing workshop goes beyond the basics of introducing you to charcoal and other media. Through Han’s carefully curated exercises, you’ll learn to seamlessly blend charcoal with other artistic tools, expanding your horizons and adding new dimensions to your art. – Your choice of working surface(s), e.g. large sheets of paper, loose canvas primed or unprimed, or wooden board.
– Any reference image(s) to share your ideas for your project.
– A pot of gesso, if you intend to prime raw canvases or board for your working surfaces.
– Feel free to bring any other materials you wish to experiment with.

Han Nae Kim

Han Nae Kim teaching Kintsugi – The Art of Broken Pieces Han Nae Kim was born in Seoul, South Korea, and is now living and working in Auckland, New Zealand. Kim majored in Painting at Elam School of Fine Arts (The University of Auckland) . She later graduated with a Master of Fine Arts by research degree at Victorian College of the Arts (The University of Melbourne).
