Creature in a Jar – Create, sculpt, and imagine your own magical creature-in-a-jar.
In this two-part hands-on art workshop, young makers will bring their imaginations to life by crafting one-of-a-kind “Jar Creatures” using air-dry clay and a mix of other fun materials.
SESSION ONE: SCULPT & BUILD
Kids will get straight into the creative process by designing and sculpting the base of their creatures. Using air-dry clay and recycled bits and pieces, they’ll learn how to build sturdy structures and explore different ways to make their creatures stand, balance, or strike a fun pose inside their jars.
They’ll be encouraged to think like inventors through experimenting, problem-solving, and letting their creativity run wild as they sculpt features like wings, legs, tails, or extra eyes! Our experienced and inspiring tutor, Maree, will guide them through each step.
SESSION TWO: PAINT & POLISH
In the second session, it’s time to bring their creatures to life with vibrant paint and finishing touches. Kids will explore colour and design, name their creatures, then seal them with a glossy coat for a shiny, professional look. At the end, every child will go home with a fantastic creature proudly displayed in a jar!

The Creature in a Jar workshop has two parts:
Session One: Monday 29 September 12:30 – 3:30pm Children make and create
Session Two: Friday 3 October 12:30 – 3:30pm Children paint and finish
