Talented local potter, Raewyn, teaches coiling & slab building; pinch pots; working with moulds & experimenting with different styles, textures and finishes. Create sculptural pieces or useful domestic ware. (Wheels are available). Fees cover material for an initial piece. More clay can be bought later in class.
Simon draws on more than 30 years experience to help beginners with the basic construction of plain rings, stone-set rings, pendants and earrings and extends advanced students' knowledge of design and construction. This introduction to the fascinating and beautiful art of glass fusing will teach you how to safely cut glass and then, using hot glass and diachroic glass, make jewellery of your own design. Waiheke has a lot of vineyards and what a fantastic place to visit in summer, relaxing and sampling but what do you really know about how special the wines are? Learn to recognise the merits and characteristics in the wines produced from grapes grown on Waiheke. The island is small but it has several different micro climates for the grapes to grow in and react to. You will be amazed at what you learn and taste.
First we’ll get started making the pasta and then while the pasta rests (not you) we’ll work together making the traditional tortellini filling. Andrea will share lots of tips and knowledge passed down through generations while he demonstrates a tasty simple sauce. Then we’ll stuff and cook and eat. There is Tiramisu and then there is TIRAMISU! You know which one you will make to take home, the most traditional and beautiful of all.
Learn how to make these perfect floating pillows of Italian deliciousness dripping with tasty sauce. You’ll make them from scratch the traditional way and then eat and critique in class. Then Andrea will make the ‘perfect’ egg pasta dough and demonstrate some of the more unusual shapes such as Gemelli, Casarecce, Cavatelli or if you’ve never had the Italian homemade macaroni then you are in for a treat. You ‘ll make and fill your own container of shaped fresh pasta to take home and cook.

A great alternative to using plastic wrap. You’ll take one beeswax food wrap with you as well as a small pack of materials and instructions to help you make more at home.
In the first advanced workshop, you will learn various colouring and swirling techniques including in-the-pot swirling, layering, thin lines and other more advanced techniques. In the second workshop we will discuss the benefits and properties of different natural additives that can be used in soap making, such as herbs, roots, and spices. Participants must know the basics of cold process soap making or have done the basic soap making course to register for the advanced. Cost includes all ingredients, detailed notes and a practical session. Each participant will go home with their own handmade natural soaps.

In this workshop we’ll use landscape subjects to learn several impressionist techniques. You will then learn how to incorporate these into your own watercolour work. The painting technique fundamental to impressionism is ‘broken colour’ which gives the beautiful sensation of light in a painting.

Create your own collection of beautiful printed designs on fabric using simple tools to make your own printing blocks and learn about pattern repeats in the process. You will make and take home a collection of stamps, printed samples on calico squares and a finished textile design on a linen tea towel. Kids create their own puppet character or pet and then enjoy making their own character come alive using the techniques of puppetry ‘movement is the key’! This class is designed to teach children realistic drawing techniques. New students will be introduced to basic drawing techniques and theory, such as proportion, shading and perspective. Students will initially work from provided images from tutor’s collection and then as they advance they will move onto their own chosen projects.
Yoga is timeless: having evolved over thousands of years it deals with the physical, mental and spiritual well-being of the person. Jacqui leads a traditional Indian yoga class which incorporates postures, breathing and deep relaxation techniques. Jacqui strives to keep the class interesting and challenging. Join our FREE Te Reo Māori sessions anytime. Everyone is welcome; Beginner to advanced levels. Ahakoa ko wai, no hea koe, ko tēnei te wā! No matter who you are or where you’re from, come and learn pronunciation, basic greetings, common phrases, waiata Māori (Māori songs) and the use of te reo in everyday situations, including the workplace. This is an introductory ‘mini workshop’ on the wonderful creative world of cast glass. You will learn all the processes involved in making glass objects and make your own beautiful crystal glass bird or house tile in the first session or a beautiful glass kete to take home for your window ledge or give as a gift. You will be ‘hooked’ on glass after coming to this workshop. Enjoy learning and making something new.
