Leather Craft workshop in Auckland

During our Leather Craft workshop, you will create your own bespoke items from leather.

In this technology filled world we live in; most leather products are mass produced and lack uniqueness. As a result we buy these products not knowing where the design’s originated and how they are made. Nothing compares to the satisfaction of creating something with your own hands.

During our leather craft workshop, you will create your own bespoke items from leather. The leather craft workshop is designed to be a thoroughly immersive and unique experience and a unique opportunity to hand make your own leather item. The different leather projects for you to choose from in general, include a Knife sheath/multitool case, Wallet, dog collar or a set of coasters.

Our Leather Craft workshop covers patternmaking through to completing your own leather project. Fern Reid, our leather artisan will share her knowledge about leather and the crafting process. She will also discuss the different types and quality, leather care, types of tools used and more. Participants are then guided through all the practical steps to apply the core skills of leather making creating their own unique leather project. As a result, this experience will have you walking away with your finished leather project feeling very satisfied with your achievements. This leather workshop is suitable for people with no prior experience.

WHAT TO BRING TO LEATHER CRAFT?

All tools, leather and equipment are provided in the fee to make whichever leather project you choose from above.
Participants can make a simple larger item after reviewing with Fern but there will be an extra cost for leather.
Participants should bring a craft knife/Stanley knife, pencil, pen and note pad or paper. If you wish to make a sheath or multitool case, you will need to bring the knife or tool along.

For health and safety, you must wear covered shoes and have hair tied back.

It was such an amazing day. Fern and Paris were fantastic, really informative and great teachers. It was really rewarding having never had any experience and starting from scratch and then going home with something I had made. I would highly recommend this workshop; I will be back to improve my skills. Wilson loves his new Collar 😀

Brian B. (September 2023)
I found the course a lot of fun, my Dog Jock is happy with his new Blue collar. Fern is delightful and a wealth of knowledge. I am very happy to recommend this course to anyone interested.

Theo P. (September 2023)
Did the leather workshop with Fern at Uxbridge this past weekend. Was absolutely awesome, so cool to learn a new craft that’s definitely going to turn into a new hobby of mine. Uxbridge is a great facility for this workshop, thoroughly enjoyed the vibe there, and Fern was an amazing tutor, highly recommend 🙂
