The Art of Sushi – A Papier-Mâché Adventure (ages 8+) 🍣🎨
🍥 Step into the deliciously creative world of The Art of Sushi. Imagination meets sculpture in this fun, hands-on papier-mâché workshop. This exciting two-part experience introduces children to the fundamentals of 3D art while they design and build their own plated sushi masterpiece.
Young artists aged 8+ will be guided step-by-step by our experienced and encouraging tutor, Maree. To begin, children will learn how to create strong shapes and forms using simple building techniques. From rice rolls and nigiri to imaginative sushi stacks, they’ll carefully construct and layer their plate of sushi bringing it to life.
🍱 In the first session, children will focus on building and sculpting their sushi creation, exploring form, proportion, and texture. They’ll shape rice mounds, seafood toppings, and decorative details while developing beginner-friendly sculpting skills. After construction, the sculptures will need time to dry.
Once dry, the second session shifts to colour, personality, and detail. Children will paint their sushi using vibrant acrylics. 🍚 Fresh salmon pinks, seaweed greens, creamy whites, and playful pattern accents. They can add creative finishing touches to make their sushi artwork uniquely theirs – realistic, whimsical or completely imaginative!
Finally, each child will take home their own handmade plated sushi sculpture. This will be bold and an eye-catching art piece ready to display.
