Children will learn to look critically at their pieces and may chat with others in the class to share ideas and provide feedback. DESCRIPTION:Vintage-inspired cakes are back in style ✨ Frills\, swirls\, bows and beautiful buttercream await! \nWe all have special occasions to celebrate\, and every celebration deserves a beautiful cake. That’s why this workshop will show you just how simple and cost-effective it can be to create your own. In this workshop we will concentrate on vintage style piping however these skills can be applied to any cake for any occasion. \nDiscover the elegance and timeless charm of vintage cake decorating in this inspiring workshop. Adults will learn beautiful buttercream and fondant techniques. \nLed by expert tutor Tim Gasson\, this 5-hour hands-on class will begin with the morning session focused on learning and practising essential covering and piping skills. Tim will guide you through classic buttercream techniques including piping borders\, shells\, swirls\, rosettes and decorative finishes. These are what will give your cake a refined and nostalgic look. \nTim will also be demonstrating how to cover a cake with fondant. Also tips on achieving a smooth\, professional finish and preparing your cake for decorating. \nIn the afternoon\, you’ll put your new skills into practice as you work on decorating your own cake\, which you’ll bring along to class (don’t worry you can buy or make one for this bit). You’ll be guided each step of the way with lots of encouragement throughout. You’ll create your own beautifully finished vintage-inspired cake to take home and show off! \nPerfect for beginners and hobby bakers alike\, this workshop is a wonderful opportunity to learn new techniques\, build confidence and enjoy a creative day immersed in everything cake decorating. \nNOTE: Outcomes will vary depending on individual ability and working speed. \nTHINGS TO BRING:\n• 1 x round cake (this can be store bought or homemade)\n• medium metal or glass bowl\n• rubber spatula\n• 2 x tea towels\n• glad wrap\n• paper towels\n• apron\nA container to take home creations and any cake decorating equipment you currently have such as a piping bag\, piping nozzles\, palette knife. In this hands-on 3-hour workshop\, you’ll be guided through two popular techniques. Flood icing and fondant modelling\, both giving you the skills to design playful\, professional-looking cake toppers at home. \nYou’ll start by learning the essentials of flood icing: how to mix and colour the royal icing needed. You will outline and flood shapes\, and add simple decorative details to achieve smooth\, vibrant designs. You’ll then move on to working with fondant\, where you’ll shape and mould your own mini figurines – perfect for adding personality and charm to any kids’ cake theme. \nAlong the way\, we’ll share practical tips for planning birthday cakes. They will include choosing colour palettes\, and creating decorations that can be made ahead of time to reduce party-day stress. \nBy the end of the session\, you’ll take home your own flood-iced cake topper and fondant figurines – ready to decorate the next lucky kid’s birthday cake! The decorations can be made up months prior to needing them. Tim will share how to store them safely.
