Karen is a qualified pattern maker and has worked more than 25 years in the fashion industry. The past 10 years has been spent in sewing and design. Karen has a fine appreciation for colour, shape and form which is the foundation in the way she teaches. It is the underlying essence in all that she does.
Karen loves nothing better than seeing others express their individuality, and sewing is a wonderful form of self-expression.
Karen lives with her husband Alex, and their daughter Chani, who is now 20, and in her second year at Auckland University.
In May 2015, Karen walked The Camino. A brief stop in Lourdes, France, then on to St Jean Pierre du Port to begin a 40-day solo journey on food to Santiago de Compostela. 33 days of walking…798kims. As she walked, she fell profoundly in love with the earth and with her Devic Realms… the energy of nature that we live alongside.
