Welcome to the Stained Glass Leadlighting course, an experience suitable for individuals of all skill levels. Whether you’re a beginner seeking some solid foundations or an experienced glass artist aiming to grow your techniques and skills, this course is perfect for you.
If you are a beginner, Neil will guide you step by step through your first project learning all the basic techniques you will need. After these are mastered, you will use your newfound knowledge and skills in a practical setting to design and make more difficult creations. During the course you will learn inventive ways to mix glass pieces together, resulting in stunning finished products in either leadlight or foil. In addition, you will become proficient in using the workshop tools and soldering, both essential skills needed.
For those with previous experience in stained glass, this course offers a supportive environment to explore and perfect your skills. Neil will encourage you to pursue any project you choose and then guide you with any advanced skills you may need along the way. Neil has a wealth of knowledge and expertise to teach stained glass leadlighting.

HOW MANY PIECES CAN I MAKE IN A TERM?
This depends on what projects you are working on. Most students make multiple pieces, however, if you work on a complex project you may decide to spend more time on it.
WHAT TO BRING?
Please bring $15 to pay for the beginner’s pack on the first night, and safety glasses for cutting glass. Some glasses will be available if you do not have any of your own.

WHAT STUDENTS ARE SAYING ABOUT THIS CLASS:
Graeme B. (December 2022)
First class lead-lighting course. Superb teacher (Neil).Lovely, relaxed and very friendly environment. Made some wonderful new friends and learned some great new skills. Have already recommended to several others.
Lisa P. (July 2022)
Neil is an enthusiastic teacher who is encouraging and always happy to help. The atmosphere in the class is mostly one of concentration but cheerful and supportive.
I started Neil’s classes over two years ago and at first the class was small in number. Now the class is so popular, Neil has two full classes per week.
Fiona J. (June 2022)
Neil is relaxed, supportive, encouraging and knowledgeable. He starts with simple cutting and foiling. He steadily adds sills that enable students to go from basic patterns to evolving their own styles and designs. We have multiple chances to practice including chances to make mistakes and learn from them in a supportive environment. Neil always says that the only silly question is the one you don’t ask – he is always available to teach, guide and support us.
I’ve been coming for several years, and every term I find myself signing up again – there is always more to learn and and more wonderful pieces to create. The class has a focused atmosphere as everyone is drawn into the joy of creating incredible pieces with their own hands.
Linda W. (June 2022)
Personally, I always look forward to Neil’s class, knowing I will be learning new skills in an enjoyable way. Neil goes the extra mile to make sure each project is completed to a high standard. My project was a stained glass window and Neil helped every step of the way. He even came to help us install it!
