Mini Clay Makers
Let your child explore their creativity and imagination in our Mini Clay Makers afterschool clay class! It’s guided by our friendly and experienced clay tutor, Olive. Children will discover the joy of working with clay while learning essential hand building pottery techniques such as coiling, slab building, and pinch pot making. These fun and accessible methods allow children to design and build a range of unique, colourful, and functional ceramic creations they’ll be proud to take home.This children’s clay class is all about hands-on making, creative exploration, and expression. Each week, kids will sculpt their own imaginative pieces before adding vibrant underglaze colours to bring their pottery to life. It’s the perfect creative mix of art, craft, and fun.
We provide all materials and equipment including clay, glazes, and pottery tools and all the kiln firing so your child just needs to come ready to get a little messy! Please have them wear old clothes (no school uniforms) as clay can stain.
Throughout the course, children will experience the full pottery process. Shaping and decorating to the exciting moment when their work is fired in the kiln and ready to take home. While our tutors take great care during firing, clay is a natural material and sometimes unpredictable, part of what makes pottery so magical!
Who Can Join?
This pottery class is perfect for children aged 6–12, from total beginners to returning mini makers. It’s especially great for kids who love hands-on, creative activities and don’t mind a bit of mess!
