SUMMARY:Make a Silver Ring
DESCRIPTION:Ever wanted to make your own jewellery?\nRing\, pendant or others\, this Make a Silver Ring workshop is the perfect introduction to designing and making your very custom pieces! \nIn the Make a Silver Ring workshop we will be using the ancient Lost Wax method. \n\nIn the first session:\nWe will use jewellers wax and carve a wax model of the piece you want to make. Our experienced tutor Macarena Bernal will show you how to do that step by step\, so fear not if you are an absolute beginner\, you will be well guided! This workshop caters for all levels.  Once you’ve crafted your piece of jewellery in wax\, it will be cast in either white bronze or silver – whichever you choose!\nThe wax model you made will be used to create a plaster mould in which molten silver or bronze will be poured into (our tutor will do this tricky bit in between your two sessions)\nIn the second session:\nYour casting will be back\, at that stage you will be finishing youe piece.  Filing\, carving and cleaning it up to make it look just like you dreamed it!\n\n  \nWhat to Bring to the Make a Silver Ring Workshop:\nWe provide all materials and tools and organise the casting for you at your own cost.\nCasting prices will vary depending on size\, weight\, and metal of choice. As a guide\, a 3.5g wax ring can cost $15 in silver and $8 in white bronze approximately. \n\nWhat students say about the Make a Silver Ring workshop:\n\nJacqueline M. (March. 2023)\nMaca was an amazing talented and knowledgeable tutor. Everything was explained fully and she never failed to assist if required.\nThe venue was comfortable\, well lit and fully kitted with all equipment required. Nice size class with not too many students making almost one on one when required. \n\nSheirley I. (Dec. 2022)\nLoved working with Maca on this lost wax process. Always wonderful to learn something new\, especially with such a vibrant and engaging tutor! \n\nSamantha W. (Dec. 2022)\nI absolutely loved the Make a Silver Ring Workshop. It was so much fun to be able to create something from scratch\, and Maca was super friendly and helpful in guiding the process to make sure we came out with brilliant finished pieces. I will definitely be back for more workshops in the future! \n\nEm G. (Dec. 2022)\nThe Make A Silver Ring (lost wax casting) course that Maca Bernal put on over 2 Saturdays was incredible. The venue was great\, having such a range of materials and tools to work with\, and with such expert tutoring\, made for an experience that exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend the tutor\, the venue and this workshop! \n\n\n  \nFind out more about Macarena Bernal\nFacebook\nInstagram\nWebsite \n  \nPlease note there is NO refund or a transfer if you cancel less than 7 days in advance or once the class/workshop has started. SUMMARY:Make Eco-Friendly Paints
DESCRIPTION:Make Eco-Friendly Paints Workshop \nAre you eager to learn how to make eco-friendly paints and explore the versatility of natural pigments? Join our hands-on workshop\, led by the passionate Holly Clarke\, and discover the art of creating non-toxic\, wallet-friendly paints with incredible health and environmental benefits. \nDid you know natural pigments can remain vibrant for centuries when stored properly? Unlike commercial paints that degrade due to toxic fillers and preservatives\, these eco-friendly alternatives retain their potency and colour. This workshop will open your eyes to the endless possibilities of sustainable art supplies! \nWHAT YOU WILL MAKE IN THE WORKSHOP:\nThe day kicks off with crafting your own pastels. You’ll create three unique pastels\, blending your colours and taking them home to dry. Once set\, they’ll be ready for use the next day. This process often sparks a “lightbulb moment” as participants realize how simple it is to make high-quality\, DIY art supplies. \nIn the second session\, you’ll dive into paint mixing. Experiment with blending pigments to see how their unique personalities interact on paper. Holly will guide you in understanding the nuances of each pigment\, offering tips for achieving beautiful\, harmonious colours. \nFinally\, we’ll scale up! Using glass mullers and tiles\, you’ll create larger quantities of paint\, combining pigments with a water-based medium. Your custom blend will be stored in an aluminum paint tube—ideal for maintaining colour consistency and preventing drying. \nAt the end of the workshop\, you’ll take home detailed handouts\, including ingredient lists and step-by-step instructions\, so you can continue creating your own eco-friendly art supplies. \n  \nWHAT TO BRING:\nAll materials and equipment are provided. Please bring a set of measuring spoons and an apron to protect your clothing.
