SUMMARY:Drawing & Sketching
DESCRIPTION:This Drawing & Sketching class is for kids aged 10 to 15 years. Our tutor is Maree Presnall \, you can visit her art tutoring page here. \nThis course is a fun way to explore realistic drawing and sketching techniques. In this class children will produce a variety of works throughout the term. \nWhat happens in the class?\nIt varies and is never boring\, kids will:\n– Play timed drawing games\n– Draw from still life\n– Draw on mediums other than paper\n– Try new ways to shade\n– Sketch from images of interest or draw from imagination! \nSome lessons may be more guided\, some others we play background music and kids work away on their pieces.\nSometimes the kids enjoy working on a particular project for a number of weeks and sometimes they will produce a finished drawing in one lesson. \nThere is always a lot of variety to keep the interest levels up! Children will learn to look critically at their pieces and may chat with others in the class to share ideas and provide feedback. Sometimes they may not personally like what they have produced\, but other people may\, and there will always be new tips and tricks picked up along the way.\nChildren will have the opportunity to try many new ways of drawing and think creatively. They will be supported\, challenged and encouraged with their love of drawing. \nIs it suitable for all levels?\nAll levels welcome. Maree celebrates each child’s strengths and styles. As she gets to know the children and the group as a whole\, she tailors projects to make them more or less challenging. This class is for kids aged 10 to 15 years. \nAbout Maree’s teaching style:\n“I endeavour to offer a variety of drawing projects so that each child has the opportunity to shine.\nMy main intention is to foster the children’s love of art and help them to feel proud of what they have achieved. I believe these are the two most important parts of my job. I am always happy to field suggestions from the class as to new projects they would like to work on. Each child will have their own strengths and style and I aim to celebrate and foster these while encouraging them to try something new.”\n– Maree Presnall \nIMPORTANT NOTES: \n\nSome course prices can vary between terms depending on the number of sessions (e.g. Term 3 may have 9 sessions\, while Term 4 has 10). This is usually due to public holidays or long weekends.\nThere is NO refund or a transfer if you cancel less than 7 days in advance or once the class/workshop has started. SUMMARY:Soft Stone Sculpture
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a creative journey into the world of Soft Stone Sculpture guided by the seasoned artisan\, Alasdair Scott. Alasdair has enjoyed a remarkable sculpting career spanning more than 25 years. He has a wealth of knowledge and skills to share with you all. \nThis Soft Stone Sculpture workshop promises to be an enriching experience where you get to craft and mould your own unique piece of art. By the end of the workshop\, you’ll place your masterpiece in a special spot in your garden\, courtyard\, or on your deck. \nHOW SOFT STONE WORKS:\nThe core of this workshop lies in the special blend of sand\, cement\, and vermiculite\, paired with a water-retaining agent. This blend is mixed with water\, then carefully poured into moulds. The curing process\, varying between 5 to 10 hours\, is subject to the weather season. When the workshop commences\, the blocks have solidified to a texture like damp sand\, allowing you to sculpt them using the tools provided. As the workshop progresses\, the blocks begin to solidify; consequently\, you gain opportunities to incorporate intricate touches into your creation. Additionally\, this solidification allows for greater precision and detail in your work. \nDrawing from a wealth of previous workshops\, Alasdair generously provides an array of examples that inspire aspiring sculptors. Alternatively\, you’re encouraged to be creative with your own ideas and design that complements the characteristics of this distinctive medium. \nThe block’s approximate dimensions stand at L 400mm\, W 270mm\, D 80mm\, providing a solid canvas for your carving experience. Though your artwork takes a few days to fully dry\, it will be as sturdy as concrete by the end of the workshop. Its resilience against the elements ensures that it withstands diverse weather conditions\, preserving its beauty through time. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBy the end\, you will leave the Soft Stone Sculpture workshop not only with a work of art filled with creative satisfaction but also with a piece you can truly be proud of. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWHAT TO BRING?\nThere is nothing that you need to bring to The Soft Stone workshop\, it’s all included in the fee! \nSome images of the ‘could be’ can be found in the UXBRIDGE pinterest board. \nMay Workshop Video Clip \n  \nPlease note there is NO refund or a transfer if you cancel less than 7 days in advance or once the class/workshop has started.
