DESCRIPTION:This Drawing and Painting class is the step up from our Making Pictures class. It is designed to take our young artists to the next level and help them develop their own style. \nKids ages 8 to 12 years\, where our teacher Siobhan will teach new drawing techniques and teach different aspects of painting. \nWhat happens in the class:\nThe children will continue to use various mediums such as paints\, pastels\, dyes\, graphite pencils and more. They will create artworks of various sizes too.\nIn this class they will experiment with new fun techniques. Using a step by step process\, the tutor will guide children through various projects during the term. They usually complete 3 to 4 projects per terms\, depending on the group’s advancement. Our tutors are both supportive and encourage the students to put their own individual spin into their artwork.\nThis course is all about getting the child to explore and giving them the confidence to develop their own style. \nWhat this class provides:\nFrom our Drawing and Painting class\, kids will gain confidence in their artistic journey in a relaxed environment. The tutors play music in the background\, kids get to draw and paint with other like-minded children and get inspiration from each other. Conversations are encouraged and the course is a solid base for College Art. DESCRIPTION:Kintsugi is the Japanese art of putting broken pottery pieces back together with gold. A metaphor for embracing your flaws and imperfections. \nLet’s pick up the pieces and mend them back together in this modern Kintsugi workshop. The art of Kintsugi not only makes this possible but also\, in turn\, celebrates the mend in the most beautiful and obvious way. \nKintsugi\, which loosely translates to ‘golden joinery\,’ is the ancient Japanese art of repairing broken objects whether wood\, metal\, or ceramic. Moreover\, it emphasizes beauty in restoration rather than hiding flaws. The techniques of Kintsugi treats the repair as part of the object’s history\, instead of hiding the repair as if it never happened. The ‘flaw’ reveals the history\, and the resulting piece is considered more beautiful. With guidance from tutor Han Nae Kim\, you’ll learn to beautifully piece your broken ceramic back together. \nUrushi is a traditional resin lacquer\, one of the oldest materials used in East Asia to repair damaged objects. First\, we’ll use traditional lacquer and varnish\, then apply gold or silver leaf or gold dust to repair your broken ceramic object. As a result\, the repair becomes a meaningful part of its history. Different techniques and repair materials are used depending on how many cracks or breaks your piece to repair may have. \n  \nTHINGS TO BRING TO KINTSUGI:\nBring your own damaged objects\, along with a container to safely transport curing items. All other materials will be provided.\nNOTE:  While workshop materials are all natural and food-safe\, traditional Urushi lacquer can cause allergic reactions. DESCRIPTION:Let your child’s imagination run wild as they discover the calming and creative aspects of working with clay. In the HOLIDAY WORKSHOP: Clay Creators Make and Glaze workshop \nOlive will teach your children clay techniques and give lot’s of project ideas\, The children will work on a specific project adding all their own differences and characteristics to it. If there is time\, they can free range what they want to make. Their artworks will be keepsakes to enjoy. \nFirstly your child will design and make their items then the projects will be brought to life as they are decorated with underglaze colours. We will bisque fire them\, then dip them in shiny glaze to be fired again forming durable and strong treasures. Sometimes the firing can take a while so we will send you an email to collect\, be patient\, the wait is worth it! \nSuitable for ages 6+ \nWHAT TO BRING:\nEverything for the workshop is provided which includes clay\, equipment\, glazes and firing.\nPlease send your child with snacks\, lunch and refreshments\, they will take short breaks. \nABOUT THE TUTOR OLIVE:\nOlive is passionate about teaching and inspiring young children. She can’t wait to meet yours and help them ‘fire up’ their imagination. She will give them confidence to get stuck in and let their hands do their thing! If your kids love it and want more then sign them up for the term time Thursday afterschool classes soon.
