DESCRIPTION:LEATHER CRAFT WORKSHOP – Design It. Make It. Take It Home. \nStep into the workshop and start creating. Rather than simply learning about leather\, you’ll design and craft your own bespoke piece from start to finish. \nToday\, mass production dominates the leather industry. Consequently\, many items lack character and story. We buy them without knowing how they were designed or made. Instead\, in this workshop\, you take control. You shape every detail. Most importantly\, you experience the satisfaction of making something with your own hands. \nThroughout the day\, you’ll choose your project and bring it to life. Options include a knife sheath or multitool case\, wallet\, dog collar\, or a set of coasters. If you’re feeling ambitious\, you can also discuss a slightly larger project with Fern (additional leather costs may apply). \nFrom the outset\, you’ll move through the full leatherworking process. First\, you’ll draft your pattern. Next\, you’ll cut\, assemble\, stitch\, and finish your piece using traditional techniques. Along the way\, leather artisan Fern Reid shares her knowledge and practical expertise. She introduces different leather types and qualities\, demonstrates essential tools\, and explains how to care for your finished item. Step by step\, you build skills\, confidence\, and precision. \nBy the end of the day\, you won’t just leave with a handcrafted piece – you’ll leave proud of what you’ve achieved. Best of all\, you don’t need any prior experience. Beginners are absolutely welcome. \nWHAT TO BRING\n\n\nAll leather\, tools\, and equipment for the standard project options are included in your workshop fee.\nPlease bring:\nA craft knife or Stanley knife\nPencil and pen\nNotepad or paper\nIf you plan to make a knife sheath or multitool case\, you must bring the knife or tool with you. \nFor health and safety reasons\, wear closed shoes and tie long hair back. \nWHAT OUR STUDENTS SAY\nPeter M. Whether you’re a total beginner or already dabble in the arts\, our Paint Carving Workshop is the perfect way to explore a unique artistic medium – no experience needed! \nIn this hands-on workshop\, you’ll learn the basics of paint carving. A relaxing and rewarding process that transforms simple designs into beautiful\, textured works of art. We’ll start with some playful carving practice on soft mats. This will allow yo to get a feel for the tools and techniques without any pressure. \nThen comes the exciting part – choosing your own design from a curated collection of beginner-friendly and advanced options. From bold geometrics to intricate nature-inspired patterns\, there’s something to suit every style and skill level. \nYou’ll trace your chosen design onto a pre-prepared 20cm round art board\, and your personal masterpiece begins to take shape! Throughout the workshop\, artist Anna will guide you step-by-step\, carving alongside you and sharing her favourite tips\, tricks\, and techniques to help bring your piece to life. \nWhether you’re looking to try something new\, rediscover your creative side\, or refine your carving skills\, this workshop offers a fun\, welcoming environment to create something truly special. \n🎨 No experience required – just bring your curiosity and creativity!\n🖌️ All materials provided\n🖼️ Leave with your own unique carved art board to proudly display \nCome carve\, create\, and be inspired. \n \nWHAT TO BRING?\nThere is nothing that you need to bring to this workshop.\nThe fee for the workshop includes all materials necessary to make a 20cm round paint carving\, so there’s no need to bring anything. \nABOUT YOUR TUTOR:\nAnna says the paint carving process is so therapeutic. 30 layers of Resene Lumbersider paint is applied to a wooden canvas (or oar/paddle) in Anna’s case and then she begins to carve. It’s a true labour of love for sure. Anna designs each piece of art carefully\, using her background in Graphic Design to compose balanced arrangements.
