I am traditionally trained as a jeweller in Sydney with a German and an Englishman as masters. My work is often lyrical, with a peppering of fantasy—Edwardian, Art Deco and Art Nouveau. I like things to look natural and have meaning. This is important in my own design, but when students come to class, I am there to facilitate and encourage them realize their creative potential and flair.
I bring over 30 years experience, and teach technique and design, with a good grounding in the basics. With encouragement, students plan their designs, and I then facilitate in making sure their approach to techniques is within their understanding and capabilities. “No way is the right way just many pathways that are right for that individual.” This style of teaching allows the pupils to learn a new craft in their own time and in their own way, exercising their grey matter and embracing the creative process in a supportive environment.
