Romy Hume

Growing up in Germany, I fell in love with the French language and culture the moment I heard Edith Piaf’s “La vie en rose” for the first time, which eventually led to an MA (1st Class Hons) in French from Auckland University. I get hugely excited about learning a new language, so Spanish and a bit of Italian came easily during my travels – although my school Russian has thoroughly faded into oblivion.

I enjoy passing my passion for language on to others and have been teaching German and French for 8 years, both in evening classes and as a private tutor for secondary and tertiary students. My classes are fun and interactive, but nobody is ever forced to speak. I’m also a qualified proofreader/editor and translator.

In my day job I work for Autism NZ, providing mentoring and employment support for adults on the spectrum, as well as presenting the occasional workshop on ASD.
