Lou is a proficient glass artist living in Auckland. She completed her Bachelor of Arts majoring in glass at Unitec in 1998 and a Post Graduate Secondary Diploma in Teaching at AUT University in 2000.
She has been a finalist in the prestigious Australasian Ranamok Glass Prize four times and her work is held in many private collections in New Zealand. “I enjoy making sculptural work. I am an object maker. I am constantly intrigued by the potential of cast glass to take on a range of expression. The nature of the material requires an immensely physical approach; it is assembled with a variety of complex techniques that interlaces an industrial process with drawing three dimensionally.
Glass has an allure and magic that has transcended time and I feel that it is a privilege to use the crystal raw material made here in New Zealand.”
